On November 1, 2025, CSS team members launched a Holiday Give Back campaign supporting Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation based in Waynesville, NC. Sarge’s is a 100 percent donor-funded non-profit supporting overcrowded shelters, rescue and rehabilitation for homeless animals, spay/neuter programs, behavior training and socialization, food and supply distribution and so much more.

CSS team members launched the campaign November 1 on social media, giving CSS team members the opportunity to spread the word across their networks. A GoFundMe was created with a fundraising goal of $5,000. Through Nov 1 to Dec 11, CSS team members help raise $5,100, half of which provided new kennels, cat condos, beds, food for dogs and cats of all ages, flea, tick and heartworm medications, gifts for the Sarge’s staff members, and more. The remaining funds were matched by another generous donor, doubling our monetary contribution!
Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation was established in response to a pivotal event at the Haywood County Animal Shelter in Western North Carolina. In 2005, a dog named Sarge—a young, healthy, purebred German Shepherd—was surrendered by his owner. A breed rescue volunteer identified him for transport and adoption, but despite these efforts, Sarge was euthanized just one hour before the rescue team arrived.
This tragedy became the catalyst for action. A group of committed volunteers united to form an organization dedicated to preventing the euthanasia of adoptable dogs and cats in the county shelter. Through years of collaboration and advocacy, the shelter has since achieved “no-kill” status. Today, Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation continues its mission to support and sustain this success, ensuring that every adoptable animal has the chance for a safe and loving home.

Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation continues their mission in Western North Carolina, expanding spay/neuter services in the region and collaborating with overcrowded shelters to find safe havens for all adoptable animals.
